healing pain

Blue Acres Market has been a blessing to my family and I. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition called Ankylosing Spondylitis about 3 years ago. I had tried may things to manage by pain. I have seen many doctors/specialists and they all wanted to put me on more pain medications. None of them mentioned a word about changing my diet/nutrition. With Justin and Jodie's help, I have been able to get started on the Keto diet along with various supplements and this has allowed me to feel much better without having to take all of the medications that the doctors originally wanted to prescribe. Justin and Jodie are very knowledgeable and very caring people. They will sit down with you and just talk about what is going on with whatever you are dealing with and try to come up with a solution. I also appreciate that Jodie has so many groceries and baked goods available for purchase!

HEALING
Pain and
Managing
Weight

While I have never been a diet enthusiast because I believed in consuming all foods, in moderation, was the key to enjoy life and food.  However most of my life I had dealt with chronic stomach pain and high cholesterol.  Since my early teenage years my family doctor insisted that I take a statin to treat high cholesterol.  Doctors told me to stay away from French fries and burgers.  Those were hardly in my diet, and I was frustrated and confused as to why my cholesterol was so high.  Having lost my grandma, my uncle and cousin to heart disease it was always at the forefront of my health thoughts.  After having children I knew it was my time to commit to dealing with these issues and work on my heart health.

It was April of 2018 when I was ready to accept the fact that certain foods were causing my joint pain, stomach pain and weight gain.  I was living with chronic knee and hip pain, along with sore feet every morning upon waking. I also had a sore spot on the inner lower palm of my hand.  For two years, I had the dreaded vitiligo on my inner wrists, lip and neck.  In April, I took out gluten from my diet. My joint pain was erased…completely!  Then, for about two months I played around with limiting other foods because I was still having the stomach pains.  After hearing about the ketogenic diet from my neighbor and listening to her success story, I felt proud of her but knew I wouldn’t try something like that.  It seemed…weird, extreme and unhealthy.  After all, for much of my life I was told to eat low fat and heart healthy foods like oatmeal!  Then in that same week Jodie and I talked on the phone for a good hour and I told her all about my new way of eating.  She asked how I was feeling and I replied that I felt good except for the stomach pains.  Next, my plan was to eliminate diary for a week to see if that helps.  Then for the second time I was hearing about the ketogenic diet from Jodie.  We mutually often shared common interests in clean products and healthy foods.  She encouraged me to just give keto a try.  Jodie suggested ordering the book, Keto. by Maria Emmerich.  Once that book was in my hands, I found it to be fascinating in learning about the sugar industry and the misleading information that was given to patients.  Within the first few pages I learned that sugar is the culprit because it is found in almost all foods and it is the leading cause of diseases like diabetes and heart disease.   Bingo!  This was just what I needed, and I was 100 percent ready to start keto the very next day.  Within three days my chronic stomach aches were almost entirely gone!  This was amazing, and still continues to be.  Currently, I am 7 months into this new ketogenic lifestyle.   During my journey, there were many phone calls made to Justin and Jodie with questions.  They helped me along the way, answering my questions, giving suggestions on which supplements to take, and suggesting what tests to have done as a baseline and examining my test results.  In fact, those two are a dynamic duo when it comes to health!  Every time we’ve talked they make sure to ask questions and seek full details before coming up with suggestions.  They value how I function as a person and take pride in helping.  I put my trust in their knowledge because my success in health has improved greatly!  Having all of this information was important to me and having the knowledge was encouraging for me to continue.

Keto has helped me lose weight, eat clean and healthy, cure my stomach and joint pain, the vitiligo completely disappeared from my neck and lessened in the other areas.  At first my husband asked how long I would eat this way, but now we both know that this is my new way of life.  I love it and I feel great!  I am amazed at the health benefits it has given me.  This may be a generalization, but as women there’s typically an obsession about food.  All of my life I’ve felt the stress about eating healthy and less.  Many nights I would feel ashamed of overeating and I would go on this emotional dread of how the next day I would eat less. This was a cycle that would continue to happen for years.   Since being on keto, overeating is rare and that sensation of binge eating is gone.  Because of feeling satisfied, that desire of overeating sweet and then salty and back to sweet is gone completely and that is absolutely freeing!   Thank you Jodie and Justin for your many conversations in guiding me on the right health track.  I am grateful!  I know you’ll have many success stories, thanks for helping me create mine!

Healing
together

Last year, we got a diagnosis for our daughter, and the doctor recommended that she go gluten-free and dairy-free. I tried to bake for her, but everything flopped. It broke my heart that I couldn't make my daughter some of her favorite things, like muffins, cookies and waffles. I tried the grocery store, but most of the stuff I found was mediocre and overpriced. Along came Blue Acres Market, with everything I needed to bring back joy to our kitchen table. I am so grateful for the high-quality, affordable products that I get from Blue Acres Market. As if that weren't enough, Jodie is one of the most empathetic people I know, willing to offer advice or just a listening ear as we make dietary adjustments in our lives.
